CIP Summer Program

Florida Institute of Technology
Founded in 1958, Florida Tech is rich in history with many fascinating links to the development of Brevard County and the US space program. Originally founded to offer continuing education opportunities to scientists, engineers and technicians at what is now NASA's Kennedy Space Center, the university's growth has paralleled the area's rapid development.
Not only is the area home to NASA and many high-tech companies, it just happens to be minutes from beautiful beaches in Central Florida, the worlds leading vacation destination.
The FIT campus offers teens with Asperger's, ADD and other learning differences a chance to experience a taste of independence while residing on campus in a college dormatory. Participants are introduced to the skills necessary for success at college including social, academic and independent living skills.
The teen Summer Program at Elms College gives teens with learning differences an introduction to the College Internship Program's comprehensive curriculum, which includes social thinking, executive functioning and organization, person-centered planning, reframing and more.
A healthy mix of fun activities makes for a great experience! Surfing, fishing, diving, swimming, boating, biking, canoeing, hiking, sailing and windsurfing are just a few of the recreational activities you can enjoy on Florida's Space Coast.
Bring your bathing suits!

"We are pleased that our kids can have a precollege experience that is safe and positive. Teaching leadership and team work was also an important element."
